I’m at the Pacific coast right now. Reunited with my Mexican family. This early morning I was welcomed with a cup of Carla’s delicious homemade chai. Nothing can beat that!! And its such a good alternative to coffee. On the photo are the ingredients that are used here, but feel free to experiment with cardamom, nutmeg, fennel, black tea, honey or agave syrup to make your own favorite blend.
The recipe: Boil a chopped piece of ginger root and crushed cinnamon, cloves, black pepper, star anise in 1 liter water for at least half an hour and add 1 liter of (soy)milk. The tea is then strained into a teapot and sweetened with piloncillo sugar.
